“I’m not planning to run for public office.”; Angel Locsin admits being hurt when people accuse her of having ulterior motive for helping others.
Angel Locsin is one of the most prominent philanthropic actresses we know. People fondly call her the real-life Darna because of her benevolence and consistency in helping others at times of distress. Over the past decade, she has allotted her time helping others through various relief efforts and volunteerism that made her one of Forbes Asia’s Heroes of Philanthropy in 2019.
Despite the fact that Angel Locsin has always been so consistent in helping others, people always have something bad to say. Naysayers most often than not are accusing her of having ulterior motive, others even, are accusing her of using it as publicity stunt to build up her name, that she’ll eventually run for public office in the future.
In an exclusive interview with Inquirer Entertainment, the actress admits being affected by the nasty accusations thrown at her, some even, literally made her cry “The first time I broke down was when I was on my way home from a really tiring day after participating in a relief operation,” said Angel Locsin.
“For an entire day, I carried sacks of rice from the second floor of a building to the ground floor and then loaded them on a delivery truck. That’s why it didn’t help when I heard a radio news report quoting this person, who claimed that the money I donated came from my DOM (dirty old man) benefactor, and that this person even knows the identity of the DOM,” Angel recalled.
As a strong woman that she is, she did not dwell on it for long. She moved on and continue to help others the best way she can but this is not the only nasty accusation that people throw at her. On the same interview, the actress admits being hurt when she hear bashers say that she has ulterior motive for helping people “What motive are they talking about? I’m not planning to run for public office. I’ve said this again and again in different instances.” True enough, Angel Locsin has made it clear on her previous interviews that she’s not planning to run for public office.
“I don’t think one has to have a reason to help others. This is actually our obligation as a human being, as a citizen of this country, as a Filipino.” the actress declared.
