Angel Locsin gave Jane de Leon some “Darna” tips!
“Darna” is set to fly again this 2022! The official trailer for ABS-CBN Entertainment’s much awaited series, “Mars Ravelo’s Darna,” officially dropped Thursday, July 7th, raking millions of views across social media platforms.
After several years of delay, lead star and director changes, Mars Ravelo’s beloved female superheroine finally takes flight in August to be graced by young actress, Jane de Leon, who earned much buzz after the official trailer hit four million views across all platforms in 24 hours noting its stunning visual effects, cinematography, and fight scenes — a rarity on Philippine television. The action sequences are also beautifully choreographed with a mix of intense drama deserving of much anticipation and hype.
The full trailer shared a glimpse of its storyline that has Narda (Jane de Leon) taking on the responsibility handed down to her by her mother, Leonor (Iza Calzado), the keeper of the stone that transforms her into Narda’s superhero alter ego Darna.
Fan fact: Iza Calzado was supposed to fly as Darna on the 2005 GMA-7 adaptation which went to Angel Locsin and the rest is history.
It was in 2019 when Jane de Leon was announced to be the lead star of Mars Ravelo’s Darna after besting 300 actresses who also auditioned for the role.
The young star has been working hard in preparation for “Darna” and recently revealed that Angel Locsin’s 2005 version of the Pinay superhero is what stood out for her after watching all its versions. “Lahat naman po, actually, tumatak po talaga, siyempre, Ms. Angel.” She revealed in an interview during a press conference for a brand she’s endorsing.
Jane also revealed that Angel Locsin gave her some tips! “May mga binigay naman siya sa aking mga tips, siyempre kailangan ko talagang maging handa physically and ready dapat ako anytime. Sabi niya sa akin, kapag pagod ako, sabihin ko lang daw talaga na I need to take a rest.”
This speaks a lot from experience that even you’re the “Darna”, you cannot really pour from an empty cup so you must listen to your body and rest whenever you need.
The role is really a big shoe to fill but by the looks of it based on the trailer, this Jane de Leon’s starrer deserves its praises and indeed “worth the wait” judging from social media reactions.
