Must Read: Inspiring story of janitor turned restaurant owner!
It has been a tough couple of years for everyone because of the pandemic. Life's been easing up a little bit but the past 2 years have undoubtedly been the hardest for everyone. There's nothing comparable to the hardships we encountered during those uncertain times but reading about inspiring stories about people who made it through the challenges of life and are now thriving and succeeding has always been inspiring and can lift up spirits just like the story of John Andrew Dangca who, from being a street vendor turned janitor, now owns a Filipino restaurant in Australia.
Like most Filipinos, life wasn’t easy for his family and making ends meet is a daily struggle. At an early age, he sell street foods to help his parents put foods on their table. His life took a turn when a relative helped him fly to Autralia at age 19. As a working student, he worked as a janitor in various places in the said country.
“Nag-umpisa po ako dito as international student po, way back 2013 po. Kinuha po ako ng tita ko, yung eldest sister nung father ko. ’Tapos yun po, naging working student po ako. Nag-work po ako as a cleaner. Nagwu-work po ako sa gabi, nag-aaral po sa umaga” he shared.
Andrew worked hard and worked double shifts especially during holidays to earn more. His hardwork evidently paid off as he was able to petition his family to be with him in the foreign country and now owns a Filipino restaurant there!
Andrew’s story only proves that with right mindset, motivation, and perseverance, success is always within reach.
