DAVAO CITY (MindaNews / 20 December) – The Davao City Police Office (DCPO) received 32 brand new mobile patrol units and three vans worth P77 million from the local government.

During the turnover ceremony at the City Hall Grounds on Friday, Col. Mannan C. Muarip, DCPO acting director, said the new vehicles will significantly strengthen the security response capabilities of local police forces in maintaining the current peace and order situation of Davao.

“These resources will significantly enhance our mobility, readiness, and operational efficiency, allowing our personnel to respond faster, safer, and more effectively, rain or shine,” he said.

The donated vehicles, funded through the city government’s Peace and Order and Public Safety Fund for 2025, included seven units of 4×4 Isuzu Pickup, 25 units of Isuzu 4×2 Pickup, and three units of vans, according to Muarip.

He said the new vehicles would help the local police forces implement their crime prevention program, enabling them to “meet the growing demands of public safety and security in a dynamic and progressive city.”

Muarip added that the police stations in Davao needed new vehicles to replace the old and damaged ones.

In a message read by his deputy chief of staff Jonah Margarette Presto, Mayor Sebastian Duterte said the new vehicles serve as a vital instrument to enable security personnel to perform their duties well and maintain peace and order.

“These are clear testimony of the principle long upheld by the City Government of Davao that what comes from Dabawenyos will always be given back to Dabawenyos,” he said. (Antonio L. Colina IV/MindaNews)
