PRO XI to deploy 400 personnel during Bangsamoro polls

DAVAO CITY (MindaNews / 25 July 2026) — Four hundred police personnel from Davao Region will be deployed in the Bangsamoro Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao (BARMM) to augment security during the first parliamentary elections in September.
The 400 personnel will come from the regional, provincial and city police offices, as well as from the Regional Mobile Force Battalion, Maj. Catherine dela Rey, Police Regional Office (PRO) XI spokesperson said in a press conference Thursday.
Dela Rey said the decision to pull out personnel from different parts of the region and not from a single unit is meant to avoid jeopardizing regular law enforcement activities.
She pointed out that PRO XI had dispatched personnel from the region to BARMM during previous elections in the autonomous region.
She said the number may be increased depending on the situation.
The 10th Infantry Division will also deploy a battalion of personnel for the BARMM elections, with the exact number to be disclosed upon deployment.
Maj. Ruben Gadut, chief of the Division Public Affairs Office estimated that the battalion will be composed of three companies or around 400 personnel.
He said the they have recently completed their evaluation and certification program, adding he is confident they will perform beyond expectation.
Gadut said any movements, including the date of deployment, are not made public for security purposes. (Razl EJ Teman/MindaNews)
