Cleanest River

Who would take a bath or wash clothes in a river that cuts through the middle of the city? Residents of Oroquieta City in Misamis Occidental, particularly those living by the bank of the Layawan River, do, as photographed Sunday morning (9 August 2026). The Layawan River is among the country’s cleanest. It was awarded the Gawad Pangulo sa Kapaligiran (Presidential Award for the Environment) for the Cleanest Inland Body of Water in 2002.
