2 suspects behind killing of bus passenger still at large 

DAVAO CITY (MindaNews/29 December) —- The two suspects behind the killing of a bus passenger in Barangay Santo Niño, Carmen, Davao del Norte on Saturday afternoon are still at large. 

A spot report from Carmen Municipal Police Station sent to reporters Saturday evening said the victim was one alias “Taytay.” He was shot by two unidentified gunmen at around 1:30 PM.  The police station has yet to give an update on the identity of the victim. 

According to the report, the victim boarded the bus from a mall in Tagum City a little over 1 p.m. while the two suspects boarded the bus when it reached Timog Avenue in the same city, 4.3 kilometers away, shot his head from behind and grabbed his sling bag before disembarking.  The victim’s backpack was not taken.

The suspects fled the scene on a motorcycle driven by someone named “Doy,” the report said. 

In a statement Saturday evening, Davao del Norte vice-governor Carlo “Oyo” Uy said the police had secured a copy of the CCTV footage and are determining the identities of the suspects. 

“Sa katawhan sa DavNor, padayon kitang mag-igmat ug magbinantayon (To Davao del Norte people, we continue to remain vigilant). We highly encourage the cooperation of everyone. We sincerely condemn this heinous act and we will not stop until justice is served,” Uy said in a statement. (Ian Carl Espinosa / MindaNews)
